Laser Treatment For Repetitive Stress Injuries

In a rapidly developing technological work place, fast, forceful and seemingly harmless repetitive movements of the shoulder, wrist and hands can adversely affect workers and industries. Computer operators have joined assembly line workers, meat packers, building tradesmen and cashiers as victims of Carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). Breakthroughs in laser therapy have produced a non-surgical alternative.

CTS is a painful, debilitating nerve entrapment disorder, which interferes with the use of the hands. CTS involves the carpal bones of the wrist and the transverse ligament from a tunnel through which the median nerve travels.  Due to swelling of the tendons and possible misalignment of the carpal bones, the median nerve becomes entrapped or pinched producing the symptoms of CTS.

Left untreated, CTS can cause irreparable nerve change.

Dr. W. uses a newly-developed laser technique to treat CTS. The laser is capable of penetrating deep into injured tissue. It produces an increase in cellular metabolism that expedites cellular repair and stimulates the immune, lymphatic and vascular systems.

Sports Brief: The ML830™ Laser is also being used by professional teams in the MLB, NBA and the NFL. In fact, for the past two seasons, the New England Patriots have relied on the laser device to reduce the amount of time a sports injury keeps a player sidelined. And after trying the laser device throughout 2003, the US Olympic Committee announced in January 2004 that it had approved its use as a therapy for sports injuries on US Olympic athletes. Olympic athletes have experienced significant pain relief and increased range of motion from laser treatments.
